Honduras
Honduras is second only to Haiti as the poorest nation in the western hemisphers. St. Thomas’ roots in Honduras run deep. Father Bill Hudson first connected us with this place and its wonderful people in the late 1980’s. Our first medical mission was in 1995 and we have made the trek every year since, thanks to the generous support of our Lobsterfest patrons. Lobsterfest is our major avenue of funding for this ministry.
For one week each June, a team of volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, veterinarians, interpreters, priests, pharmacists, guitar players, and other assorted support personnel travel to a remote Honduran village in the Central American jungle and provide the residents with their only health care.
The people of Honduras have become our friends. We work hard throughout the year to prepare for the next journey. We invite you to join us. Please call the church or contact Bob Harwell if you are interested in helping or just learning more.
