Fun & Fellowship
The St. Thomas family is a warm, friendly, welcoming church with a lot going on. In our fifty years together, we have formed wonderful traditions that unite us in fellowship. Our St. Thomas night is a delightful Advent festival for children, our yearly Pentecost picnic marks the beginning of summer, we go on retreats, canoeing ventures and have supper clubs each year. One parishioner put it this way, "St. Thomas likes to eat and visit."
Our fellowship efforts extend beyond social gatherings; we also work to support newcomers and reach out to our parishioners in need. We provide transportation for members who no longer drive through the St. Christopher's Guild and have a trained Pastoral Care Team which visits and provides assistance to the sick. The Guild of the Christ Child supports new mothers in our parish and we have trained lay Eucharistic ministers who take communion to shut-ins.
St. Thomas has many places for parishioners to "plug in" but there is always room for growth. We know that a healthy parish, one that is nurtured spiritually and physically, will be better prepared to take its ministry out into the world.
The Fellowship Committee organizes and executes our social events, striving to build community in the service of God. They handle it all: publicity, programs, food, decorations, setup, and cleanup.
The committee hosts the Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras, the luncheon and reception for the Bishop's annual visit, the Seder supper, an Easter champagne brunch, the annual Women's Retreat, the Pentecost picnic, a parish-wide progressive dinner, and a luncheon for the annual parish meeting. Many of our activities are only possible with the help of people like you, volunteers from the parish. We are ALWAYS open to suggestions, assistance and new volunteers! Contact Carolyn Seaman or Evie Wilson if you'd like to join us.
