About Us

St. Thomas is a caring, worship-centered, suburban parish comprised of committed Christians from differing social, political and geographical backgrounds--just like Huntsville itself. Our membership includes young families, empty nesters, retirees, and a growing young adult and singles group; we have cradle Episcopalians and newcomers to the faith, conservatives and liberals, artists, engineers, teachers, doctors, lawyers…all saints of God. We are passionate about beautiful liturgy and music, engaging sermons, and the belief that we are called as joyful Christians to show the love of Christ to our neighbors, locally and globally. St. Thomas enjoys a reputation as a church with a sense of humor and strong focus on outreach. We know that it is in giving that we receive.

Our 10-acre campas encompasses approximately 27,000 square feet of worship, classroom and community space and our nave seats about 320 people. The church buildings were built in 4 phases over 16 years with a growing southeast Huntsville community coming out in droves to see what was going on. Many stayed, and their pledges helped immensely in paying off the construction loans. Under the leadership of our current interim rector, and with the generous contributions of parishioners, a successful campaign entitled “Debt Free at Fifty” took off in 2008 to pay off the balance due on our remaining mortgage.  Gratefully and amazingly, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Thomas in the fall of 2008 with no outstanding debt.  St. Thomas faces the next 50 years with an annual operating budget over $500,000 and a pledge of 13.9% to the diocesan covenant.

A family at heart, the community at St. Thomas enjoys life together and celebrates the blessings God has given us.  We invite you to join us.
